d’Arte Magazine (“dart”) is a fashion, design, and cultural publication founded in 2009 by a group of students at Carnegie Mellon University. The name d’Arte is derived from French meaning “of art” which sums up our goals for the magazine. Our mission is to foster greater appreciation of various forms of art, particularly design and fashion, not only at Carnegie Mellon University but in the greater Pittsburgh community. d’Arte magazine prides itself on discovering the best in creativity and innovation in our community and translating this onto our pages.

CREATIVE DIRECTOR Hanah Ho

The Mellon is one of the best places in the world to have its own fashion magazine. It's the kind of place that challenges us to dig deep and reveal rich stories that lay within our geeky collegiate exterior. I'm reluctant to call d’Arte just a fashion magazine, but rather a token for wide-ranging curiosity and a curator of sorts for our own distinct Carnegie Mellon culture.

Hanah is 3rd year Communication Design and Business student. She has worked in the Art Department of Vanity Fair and hopes to continue working in journalism after her stint as a college student.

ART & PHOTOGRAPHY DIRECTOR Victor Ng

My professor once told me that if you strap a camera to a dog and let it run loose, you are bound to get a good photo. I truly believe that statement, I just have better equipment.

Victor is a third year Communication Design and Photography student at Carnegie Mellon University and a Curatorial Intern in Photography at the Carnegie Museum of Art.

DESIGNER Brier Avil

d'Arte gives me the opportunity to do design work outside the classroom that I wouldn't normally be able to. It is inspiring to be around my peers who are so motivated and passionate about what we do.

MARKETING DIRECTOR Urna Biswas

I enjoy fashion as a means of self-expression and I value individual style. It is my dream to work for one of the biggest fashion firms and become a brand manager. d'Arte is not only one step closer to my dream but it also allows me the opportunity to work with an inspiring, creative team and incorporate fashion into my life.

COPY EDITOR Anh Bui

I love writing, reading, shopping, listening to music, doing yoga, and organizing. One day I want to be a fiction writer and perhaps a magazine writer. I desperately wish to do volunteer work for UNICEF. I love fashion because it is the art that truly surrounds us. We can see it, touch it, wear it. No other art allows that kind of personal experience.

Ahn is a third year Professional and Creative Writing student at Carnegie Mellon University. She has worked in a medical research lab and interned for a literary agent.

COPY EDITOR Efi Turkson

I am obsessed with fashion and study fashion magazines and blogs daily. I love high fashion editorials and dream of becoming a member of fashion's elite. Working on d'Arte is an incredible experience for me, and I hope that readers love the magazine as much as I do. When I am not obsessing over fashion, I indulge myself by watching my favorite trashy reality shows.

Efi is a third year Professional Writing Major at Carnegie Mellon University. She has worked for Edward Enninful where she assisted him on shoots with the likes of Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss, Lara Stone and Nick Knight.
