Check our the behind the scenes from our upcoming Spring 2010 issue!
Last night, eighteen of CMU’s Greek organizations participated in Greek Sing by singing and dancing their hearts out for the judges and the packed audience at Soldiers and Sailors. The variety of performances this year was much greater than in recent years, and the audience was treated to displays of raw vocal talent, synchronized dances, and lot’s of cross-dressing. Greek Sing never fails to provide its attendees with jaw-dropping performances - whether it’s a great vocal solo, or a script filled with ridiculous jokes - hats off to everyone involved for putting on an entertaining overall show.

Chapter members have been preparing for tonight’s performances for several months, and competition among the houses is (as always) strong, and so come prepared to see top-notch displays of CMU talent - not only in singing, but also in dancing/choreography, set design, band performances, and playwriting. Additionally, all of the proceeds go to the Children’s Institute of Pittsburgh.
The event starts at 7PM tonight, and tickets will still be available for purchase at the door for $12.

Stuff White People Like

If you haven’t already, you need to check out the ridiculously hilarious blog “Stuff White People Like.” The blog’s creator, Christian Lander takes several sarcastic (yet undoubtedly accurate) stabs at upper-middle-class white culture, and this Tuesday is your chance to see him live, (and for free) as part of the AB Lecture Series.
When: Tuesday, March 15th @ 7:00PM (Doors open @ 6:40)
Where: McConomy Auditorium
Free Admission!
Ever Attend a Spelling Bee?

Neither have we, (fortunately), but the next best thing, (that is definitely better), is the School of Drama’s production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. The show, that is roughly halfway through its run at the New Hazlett Theater, follows six quirky pre-teens in their quest to become the new spelling bee champ. The musical won two Tony Awards, two Theatre World Awards, and three Drama Desk Awards during its time on Broadway in 2005. One can only imagine the kind of laughs and musical numbers that can come from a story about precocious middle schoolers in Putnam County.
What: The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee
When: This Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday @ 8PM (there’s also a matinée performance @ 2PM on Saturday)
Where: New Hazlett Theater, Allegheny Square E. Pittsburgh, PA (the North Side)
Tickets range from $25-$29, (not including the student discount), and can be purchased here.
